SURGICAL TREATMENTS
Have you been told that you have cataracts, a pterygium, or droopy upper eyelids? Interested in learning more about laser procedures? Dr. Varshney is a board-certified ophthalmologist with extensive training in the latest surgical techniques.
CATARACT:
Cataract surgery is one of the most common surgeries done in the United States, but not all surgeons and techniques are the same. Dr. Varshney performs microincisional, suture-less cataract surgery and is an expert in premium lenses, including ReSTOR®, Crystalens®, and toric (astigmatic correcting) intraocular lens implants. She was also amongst the first surgeons in North County to use the ORA system and the femtosecond laser for laser-assisted cataract surgery.
There are many decisions to consider with cataract surgery, and you should not feel like you have to make them without knowing your options. Come in today for a consultation! Dr. Varshney can discuss with you whether or not you are a good candidate for surgery and, if so, the benefits you can achieve from cataract surgery.
PTERYGIUM:
Pterygiums are commonly referred to as "surfer's eye," and are the result of UV damage and chronic irritation to the eye. Not all pterygiums need to be removed, and there are steps you can take to protect yourself from further damage. If you and Dr. Varshney decide you should have surgery to remove the pterygium, rest assured that modern techniques allow for a much shorter surgery with less pain than ever before. Make an appointment to review your options!
LASER PROCEDURES:
Lasers constitute a large part of treatment options in ophthalmology, and we are fortunate to live in a time when we have such great technology! Dr. Varshney has had extensive experience use of various lasers, including those for YAG capsulotomies (for "secondary cataracts"), peripheral iridotomies, and SLT for glaucoma.
